DeFi Protocol · Founder Guide
Is My DeFi Protocol Ready to Raise or Get Incubated?
If your protocol is live and holds user funds without a security audit, that alone is usually enough to fail a first-pass screen. Beyond that, reviewers weigh on-chain traction over anything you say about yourself.

What Gets Checked
What Investors and Accelerators Check for DeFi Protocol Projects
- TVL, daily active wallets, and real transaction volume over follower counts or Discord size
- A security audit from a known firm, or a clear plan and budget for one before mainnet
- A named, technically credible team, ideally with prior protocol or smart contract experience
- A specific mechanism description (AMM curve, lending model, liquidation logic), not just "DeFi protocol"
- A path to non-speculative revenue or fee capture, not just token appreciation
Red Flags
DeFi Protocol-Specific Red Flags This Tool Catches
- Live product holding user funds with no audit mentioned anywhere, the single fastest rejection reason this tool tracks
- Anonymous or unnamed team
- Pitch language leaning on hype ("revolutionary", "game-changing", "100x") over mechanism specifics
- Blurb claims on-chain but never actually describes a contract, chain, or token
DeFi Protocol Questions
Do I need an audit before applying to a DeFi accelerator?
If you're live and holding funds, yes, or at minimum a booked audit with a named firm. Reviewers ask directly.
What matters more, TVL or user count?
Both, but TVL only counts if it's verifiable. A large number with no on-chain evidence behind it reads as a claim, not traction.
